What is 'spamming'?
What is 'spamming'?
Solution
Spam or "avid posting" is defined as making a post that could be considered one or more of the following:
a)
Off topic
-- not related to the discussion at hand as laid out by the person who started the topic.
example:
In a topic discussing Harry's scar, you post asking if anyone thought his hair color was funny.
b)
Pointless in nature
-- this includes one-word posts, posts that are simply *actions*, etc.
example:
In a topic discussing whether Luna was crazy, you post only "I agree". Posts should always strive to contribute something new to the conversation.
c)
Double Posting
-- double posting is not permitted on the forums. You must give a chance to others to reply before posting again -- and no, you are NOT permitted to "bump" a topic. If you feel a need to edit your previous post, you can do so using your "edit button" for up 30 minutes after you have posted.
d)
Not related to the subject of the forum or category
-- (I.E., discussion of your prom dress in "Any Harry Potter Stuff")
Spamming, double posting, and other particulars of good forum etiquette can be read in the
Forum Rules
.
Violating these rules can result in a
warning level increase.
