Solution
Why am I a first year and how do I become a seventh?
When you post in the forums, you will quickly notice that in your panel (the area to the left of your message that contains all your information such as name, avatar, etc) there are all kinds of interesting tidbits of information. Included in that panel located directly below your avatar will be one of the following titles:
New Student - 0 Posts
First Year - 30 Posts
Second Year - 200 Posts
Third Year - 300 Posts
Fourth Year - 500 Posts
Fifth Year - 800 Posts
Sixth Year - 1000
Seventh Year - 1500
Teacher - 4000
Professor - 5000
Please note, your "Rank" is different than your "Group," which is broken down as follows:
New Member - 0 posts
Member - at least 3 VALIDATED posts, including those in the New Member section
Member+ - 150
Member Elite - 300
Prefect/Staff - N/A
Member. (or Member.., other) - group reserved for members on restricted access
These titles are based solely on your post count, the number of messages or "posts" that you have left on the forums. Members move up through the "years" by the amount of posts they create.
While it may be fun to see how long (or how fast) you can ascend through the "years," be warned that
spamming
to increase your post count can result in a board
warning
. We do not have maximum limits per day for the amount of posting you can
do, but you should insure that your posts are on topic and contain some substance.
UPDATE (July 09):
Forum profiles will show all posts (including deleted posts), while topic posts (the number appearing below your avatar) will show only those posts that are still active. As such, the profile total will be greater than or equal to your topic total. Topic totals may drop as the software updates the counts from the database.
